In mid 2009 the idea of bringing private user pays guitar tuition into the school environment was spearheaded by H.O.D Glen Parr and brought intro fruition in conjunction with Allmusic Guitar Tuition.  With class times available from 7.45am and the opportunity for family members to also attend the classes there are plenty of options for lesson times and class size.

Our goal is to enhance and maintain the high level St Johns College has set with its existing music programme.  Each student is evaluated and put into the appropriate class for their current playing level.  As they progress they have the option to move to a more advanced class or change to individual lessons.

All styles are catered for from beginners learning the fundamentals of guitar playing through to advanced tuition in Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Classical, Jazz & Finger style.  Students are given advice and helped with the preparation for N.C.E.A performances with a wide range of material available to select their pieces from.

ALLMUSIC  GUITAR TUITION AT ST JOHN’S COLLEGE, HAMILTON  (Glen Parr)

Allmusic Guitar Tuition was invited into St Johns College midway through 2009 as a user-pays service to supplement Government funded Itinerant Music lessons. Itinerant guitar lessons are historically oversubscribed with Music Option students being allocated the school’s quota of Itinerant lessons. Allmusic Guitar Tuition’s presence has meant that every student, Music and otherwise, may pursue guitar.

Allmusic Guitar Tuition is increasingly popular among students. They routinely remain with the programme, even after becoming Music Option students and eligible for free Itinerant lessons.

The level of Allmusic's tuition is high and caters for all levels of ability. It satisfies NCEA requirements and provides internationally accredited learning programmes such as Rock School.  Lessons and course content are appealing to students, incorporating technology plus carefully structured and supportive tutoring.  Students are challenged by exploring a range of guitar techniques and performance styles while developing their skills through progressive degrees of difficulty that are logical and time-proven.

Allmusic Guitar Tuition is commitited to supporting the special character of the school and encouraging students to pursue their personal best.  Tuition is especially tailored to suit students needs and ability.

It is a pleasure to work with Allmusic Guitar Tuition, a most professional organisation.  Allmusic Guitar Tuition is an integral element of the schools Music programme.  Of its students, Allmusic is responsible for overachievement, extension work, accelerated progress, rich learning opportunities, and advanced levels of musicianship generally.
